Dana - The Paramita of Generosity

Dana - The Paramita of Generosity
2 Thursdays, Mar 5 & 19, 6:30 - 8:30pm

Online Only.

You are warmly invited to join George Draffan for two evenings of reflection and practice on generosity — one of the most fundamental and far-reaching teachings in the Dharma. In modern usage, the Sanskrit word dana, has come to mean a donation of money, usually offered as a sort of entrance fee to a teaching or event. But dana means generosity, in all its forms.

  • Not clinging to resources, wealth, and pride are generosity.

  • Not harboring anger is generous.

  • Rejoicing in another's happiness is generous.

  • Giving time and attention is generous.

  • Mentoring and supporting are generous.

Generosity is a practice and quality cultivated in the Dharma from day one up to the highest levels because it cuts the craving and delusion that lead to suffering.

  • Generosity is the antidote for self-centeredness.

  • Generosity supports every worthwhile project.

  • Generosity overcomes poverty and need.

  • Generosity sustains life itself.

We'll explore structured reflections and meditations as well as ways to carry generosity into daily life.
