Peter "Daishin" Renner serves as Dekeling's Assisting Teacher for Sanity Sits and general community advisor, bringing a unique combination of monastic training, academic credentials, and pastoral care experience to our sangha.

Peter's diverse background includes apprenticeships in the European hotel industry, immigration and cultural adaptation experiences, teaching at hotel school, authoring books on teaching and adult education, and extensive work in corporate and higher education classrooms.

With formal training in spiritual care and years of hospice and elder care volunteer work, Peter brings profound sensitivity to practitioners navigating life transitions, grief, and the challenges of aging and mortality.

Since 2020, Peter has hosted free guided meditation groups via Zoom, demonstrating the kind of responsive, caring leadership that exemplifies Dekeling's community values.

Living in Victoria, BC, Peter continues to serve our distributed community through online offerings and visits to Portland. His background in educational leadership and spiritual care makes him an invaluable resource for community members seeking guidance during difficult times.
