2026 Methow Tonglen Weekend

2026 Methow Tonglen Weekend

In-Person Only.

Saturday May 30, 11:30 - 3:30
Sunday May 31, 11:30 - 3:30

Join us at Motive Yoga in the Methow Valley of Washington state for a weekend of Tonglen, led by Lama Lekshe.

Tonglen practice—'taking and sending’ in English—is a simple and yet it is so powerful it was kept secret for centuries. Even if you’ve never meditated, you can quickly learn this heart-opening practice that will gently expand compassion and wisdom. In divisive times, this practice is especially powerful for healing relationships, families and communities. Working with compassion for one’s self, our beloveds, strangers, and those we find most difficult, tonglen strengthens our ability to connect more deeply with all beings, including animals, those who have died, and future generations not yet born. Beginners welcome, as well as meditators at every level of experience. If sitting on the floor on a mediation cushion is not comfortable, you are warmly invited to sit in a chair, or even lie down.

Lama Lekshe has been practicing Tibetan Buddhism for 30 years and teaching for nearly 20. She finished a traditional three-year retreat in 2019 and followed with a year’s service residency at a Zen Monastery. Now the full-time Resident Lama, she serves the Dekeling meditation community in Portland, Oregon, and New York, as well as online. For anyone interested, there will be an opportunity to share lunchtime together, so bring your favorite sack lunch.

Cost details and registration added in 2026.
