Shamatha-Vipashyana-Mahamudra

4 weekly classes. Online only.

The two basic meditation methods in the Kagyu tradition: calm abiding (shamatha or shinay) and clear seeing (vipashyana or lhatong), and their ultimate fruition in the Great Seal (mahamudra). We’ll introduce the basic techniques, explore the common pitfalls, and encourage participants to establish a daily practice. We will refer to several texts, including Dezhung Rinpoche’s Lamp for the Path, Kamalashila’s Stages of Meditation, and Aspirations for Mahamudra. Texts will be provided. This four evening series is suitable for beginning and experienced meditators.
