Steady in the Storm
A Dekeling Community Retreat in Corbett, Oregon
July 25-26, 2026 (In person only)
Led by Lama Lekshe and George Draffan
Steady in the Storm is a two-day Buddhist practice immersion for those who want to meet the turbulence of modern life differently. We live in a time of constant strategizing—trying to outmaneuver uncertainty, fix instability, or brace against change. This retreat offers another way.
Nothing external needs to change for steadiness to arise. The storm may continue. Through gentle meditation practice, short teachings and sharing circle, we’ll discover the ever present strength and ease beneath every storm .
Over two full days, we will practice
Settling the body in breath meditation
Investigating reactivity and fear directly
Exploring pliancy rather than resistance
Cultivating courage without aggression
Practicing presence in the midst of uncertainty and intensity
We’ll share silence during practice periods, and restful space for integration. This is not an escape from the world. It is training for living in harmony within it.
Qi Gong Support
George Draffan will offer short, optional periods of silent gentle mindful movement (qi gong) to support easeful, sustainable sitting on cushions or chairs. Before the retreat begins, he will give a brief introduction to simple beginner’s qi gong so everyone feels confident and welcome.
