DDSP - First Steps After Death

Online / Hands-on option.

February 2, 2027 (single, 3 hour session)
5:30 PM to 8:30 PM (Pacific Time)

The hours immediately following a death are often chaotic and disorienting — and they matter. The decisions made in that window affect everything that follows: for the body, for the family, and for the continuation of any spiritual support.

This single three-hour session provides clear, practical guidance for that immediate period. Topics include:

  • What to expect in the hours after death — physically and emotionally

  • What to do first — and what to wait on

  • How to navigate the intersection of spiritual intention and legal requirement

  • When and how to contact a funeral home — and when you don't have to

  • How to create the conditions for a supported transition in a home environment

This class is appropriate for anyone — Buddhist practitioner or not — who wants to be prepared to serve in this way rather than caught off guard.
