The Perfection of Wisdom in Daily Practice

The Perfection of Wisdom in Daily Practice

Online Only.
Four Thursday evenings in February (Feb 5, 12, 19, 26)
6:30-8:30pm

Taught by George Draffan

Not sure how to practice insight? Confused by the instructions in traditional texts? Ready to take a dive into the perfection of wisdom?

A buddha is one who is awake to the way things are. Insight practice is the seed of wisdom (prajna). Join us for a study and practice group that explores verses from the famous Perfection of Wisdom (Prajnaparamita), pairing them with traditional but practical advice for cultivating insight and wisdom.

George Draffan will offer an introduction to several wisdom texts, including the Prajnaparamita Sutra in 8000 Lines. Don’t worry, we’ll only look at a few selected verses! We’ll also learn how the 19th century Tibetan master Mipham Rinpoche composed a brief but powerful meditation manual -- he wrote it in one day!

The aim of the class is to help you to ground whatever kind of meditation you’re doing in the authentic tradition of the Perfection of Wisdom, the Mother of all Buddhas.

Call forth as much as you can of love, of respect and faith!

Remove the obstructing defilements, and clear away your taints!

Listen to the Perfect Wisdom of the gentle Buddhas,

Taught for the weal of the world, for heroic spirits intended!

Wisdom controls him who gives gifts,

And also morality, patience, vigor and concentration.

She takes hold of the wholesome dharmas so that they may not be lost.

She alone is the one who reveals all dharmas.
