December 8, December 15
5:30 PM to 7:30 PM (Pacific Time)
There is a particular kind of support that can be offered to the dying and the recently deceased — not medical, not emotional, but spiritual. This course introduces practitioners to that dimension of service.
The emphasis throughout is on sincerity, clarity, and ethical restraint. These practices are powerful precisely because they are offered with humility, without expectation of outcome, and in genuine service to the dying person's wellbeing — not the caregiver's need to do something.
Practices introduced include:
Chenrezig — the practice of compassion; instruction optionally available
Amitabha — aspiration practice for a supported transition
Phowa — transference of consciousness; an overview appropriate to the context
Mantra, Passage to Light, and other accessible practices
Not all participants will have a Vajrayana practice background, and that’s fine. This course meets practitioners where they are and offers each person something they can actually use.
