Wake Up to Your Life is a comprehensive English version of the traditional Tibetan Buddhist stages of the path (lam rim), from the initial confrontation with suffering, progressing through a series of practices that awaken heart and mind to the nature of experience and the possibility of freedom. Register for the group here.
This study group will meet with George Draffan every third Sunday, in person in Portland and by Zoom. A cohort group will be formed to gather between the monthly meetings to support consistent practice, and participants are encouraged to schedule one-on-one interviews with George. Given the comprehensive and progressive nature of the book, the group is suitable for beginning and experienced meditators.
Copies of Wake Up to Your Life will be available at the vicarage for $10 beginning November 21. Handouts and other material will be provided as needed.
Ken McLeod, the author of Wake Up To Your Life, is an authorized lama in the Shangpa Kagyu lineage. He was a student of and translator for the late Kalu Rinpoche, and he completed two three-year retreats in the 1980s. Ken went on to found Unfettered Mind, taught for many years, and led a three-year teacher development program. He continues to translate and write.
George Draffan was a student of Lama Michael Conklin and Ken McLeod, and has studied and practiced with the meditations in Wake Up To Your Life since meeting Ken McLeod in 1993. He is now an associate teacher with the Dekeling Community. You can learn more about him at his Natural Awareness website.
